How TCG Marquee compares, honestly
People usually find a product like this by searching for one they already know, things like "Collectr alternative" or "show my cards on a TV." Until now, nothing on this site answered those searches. So I wrote three comparison pages, and I tried hard to make them fair.
Three comparisons
- TCG Marquee vs TCGVisor: a free tracking app versus a display. If you want a free tracker with wishlists, trades, and sealed product, TCGVisor does more of that than we do.
- TCG Marquee vs Collectr: the best-known portfolio app versus a screen on the wall. Collectr covers more games and has years of price history; TCG Marquee is for seeing your collection without picking up your phone.
- TCG Marquee vs Double Holo: for vendors. Double Holo runs the back office: inventory, labels, sales. TCG Marquee is the part your customers see. These two work together, and the page says so: keep your POS, add a screen.
Each page says what the other product does better, shows a side by side table with the date I checked their site, and points out what a screen does that an app can't: the LED board, any TV or monitor, show mode at a card show, and Just the cards.
While researching, I couldn't find any other product that puts card prices on a TV or an LED board. That's the whole reason TCG Marquee exists, so it's nice to confirm the gap is real.
Where the prices come from, by name
The home page FAQ used to say our prices come from "a card market data service." That's true but vague, and the most common worry I hear from collectors is whether app prices are real. So it now says it plainly: prices come from Scrydex, a card market data service that tracks recent sales, and they refresh once a day.
