Real cards on the home page, and big moves that fit
Until today, the glowing panel at the top of the home page played made-up cards. They did the job of showing what a TCG Marquee page looks like, but everyone on Instagram shows real cards, and so should we.
This week's biggest movers
The home page panel now plays the biggest price moves of the week across every collection on TCG Marquee, with real card art and real prices: six cards that went up and two that went down. A few rules keep it useful:
- One entry per card. If ten people own the same Charizard, it shows once.
- Never who owns it. The panel shows the card and its price, nothing about whose collection it came from.
- Cards worth $5 or more, so it's not a parade of bulk cards moving a few cents.
- No glitches. A move bigger than 300% in a week is usually a pricing hiccup, so those are left out.
It's drawn by the same code that draws the LED board, so what you see on the home page is exactly what a board would show. It updates every time prices refresh, once a day. Between the real cards it still shows the other page types, like collection value, show mode, and the shop page, and the real ticker runs along the bottom.
Big moves that fit
When a card moved a lot, its card page could run out of room: "123.8% 30" with the end cut off. Now the page measures the line before drawing it. If both changes don't fit with a decimal, it shows whole percents ("80% 7d 124% 30d"), and if that's still too long, just the 7 day change. Nothing gets cut off anymore, on the board, the wall preview, the demo, or the home page.
Take a look at the home page and let me know what you think of the new panel.
