Price charts you can read, and set logos
A beta tester sent me screenshots of a few cheap cards, and the charts looked alarming: a card that moved one cent filled the whole chart top to bottom, a flat price drew a line along the floor, and the chart's color sometimes disagreed with the 7 and 30 day changes right above it. All three are fixed, and the charts picked up a few new tricks along the way.
Charts that keep things in proportion
- Small moves look small. Every price chart, on the card sheet, in screen mode, on the LED board, and on the Apple TV, now spans at least 20% of the price around its middle. A card going from $0.06 to $0.05 gets a gentle dip, not a crash.
- A flat price sits in the middle, where it belongs, instead of along the bottom edge.
- The color and label match the chart itself. The card sheet chart is now labeled with its own change, first day to last, like "-$0.01 (-5.9%)", or a grey "No change". Green and red follow that.
- Short histories say so. TCG Marquee keeps one price a day for each card starting the day it's added. When a chart covers less than 30 days, a note under it explains that the chart starts when tracking began, which is why it can differ from the 7 and 30 day numbers, which come from the market's longer history.
- Each day gets a dot when there are 20 days or fewer, so you can see exactly how many days the chart covers.
Touch the chart to see the price
You can now read any day's price straight off the chart:
- With a mouse, hover over it.
- On a phone, put your finger on it and slide sideways. The price stays up for a few seconds after you let go, and scrolling up and down still works.
- With a keyboard, tab to the chart and use the arrow keys.
A small label shows the day and the price, like "Oct 5: $0.13", with a line and a dot marking the spot.
Set logos
Pokémon set logos were missing everywhere. It turned out the card details never include them; they only come with the set itself. TCG Marquee now looks up each set once, keeps its logo, and shows it:
- Next to the set name on every card's sheet.
- In the group headers when you group your collection by set (or by binder, then set).
Sets without a logo just show their name, the same as before. On the Apple TV, the set progress page shows the logo too: it's in beta build 6, out now in TestFlight.
