An Apple TV app you pair with a short code
Screen mode works in a web browser, but a TV app is simpler: open it and it runs. I have a Mac and an Apple developer account, so the first app is for Apple TV.
Pairing without typing a password
Typing a password with a TV remote is miserable. Instead:
- The app shows a short code and a QR code.
- Scan the QR code with your phone, or go to tcgmarquee.com/link and type the code.
- Approve it, and the TV is linked to your account.
The code expires after ten minutes, and approving it creates a device key just for that TV, which you can remove from your account any time. The LED board uses the same pairing system.
Getting it right
The first build ran but showed blank card pages. The pages were drawn in the wrong place, the custom fonts weren't loading, and a slow network left the card art missing. After a round of fixes, pages draw reliably, art loads ahead of time, and a small red dot in the corner tells you when the TV can't reach the server.
